Brisbane Airport Corporation: staff onboarding series
How each policy became an instruction
- Policy
- Plain rule
- What it looks like on the job
- If in doubt
The brief
Brisbane Airport Corporation needed new staff to understand its health and safety, compliance, legal and risk requirements before they started work. The series is presented by the CEO and general managers, and it is internal staff content, so it’s described here rather than shown.
What I did
- Drafted the scripts, turning policy documents into plain instructions, one rule at a time, ending with what to do if in doubt.
- Wrote for people new to the airport, so the rules made sense without knowing the policy behind them.
- Took the scripts through the corporation’s internal review and sign-off, and revised them in response.
- Wrote the scripts for the CEO and general managers to present.
Outcome
Latitude delivered six commissions for Brisbane Airport Corporation between 2014 and 2024, the earliest before Latitude was founded. One of the public ones is Passion Days (2017), a film about staff volunteering for the Helping Hands project. The onboarding series is the clearest example of my safety and compliance writing, and of taking content through a client’s formal sign-off.
